How To Enable The Hibernate Mode In Windows 10
You can enable or disable the hibernate mode in two ways:
Using Command prompt
The easiest way to enable or disable hibernation mode is to use the command Prompt. You will need to run it as an administrator: right-click on the “Start” button and select the appropriate option. To disable hibernation, at the command prompt, type “powercfg –h” off and press “Enter”. This will disable this mode, remove hiberfil.sys from the hard disk, and disable the option of fast boot of Windows 10 (which also uses this technology and does not work without Hibernate).
To enable hibernation mode, type “powercfg –h” in command prompt in the same way.
Using Registry Editor
Another way to disable Hibernation – If you use Registry Editor to run which you can press Win + R on your keyboard and type “regedit, and then press Enter.

To disable or enable hibernation mode in Windows, follow the steps below for your version of Windows.
Windows 8 and 10 users
- Open Control Panel.
- Click or double-click the Power Optionsicon.
- In the Power Options window, click the Change plan settings link for the power option currently selected.
- In the Edit Plan Settings window, click the Change advanced power settings link.
- In the Power Options window, expand the Sleep section, then the Allow hybrid sleep option, and change the Setting to Off.
On laptops, instead of a Settings option, you may see two options named On battery and Plugged in. Change both options to Off to disable hibernation mode.
- Click OK to save the setting change.
You can turn hibernation mode back on by changing the Setting in step 5 to On.
Windows Vista and Windows 7 users

Check to see if hibernate mode was turned off successfully. You can do this by opening the C: drive on the computer and checking if there is a file named hiberfil.sys located at the root of the C: drive. If you see that file, hibernate mode is not fully turned off. Follow the steps below to fully turn off hibernate mode.
- Open a command prompt window.
- Type the following at the command prompt and press Enter: powercfg.exe -h off
- Verify hibernate mode is now fully turned off by checking for the hiberfil.sys file on the C: drive.
Disable Hibernation Mode Windows 10

You can turn hibernate mode back on by following the steps above, but instead, type powercfg.exe -h on at the command prompt and change the Allow hybrid sleep setting to On.
